Audio Texture – June 3, 2013

An interesting show this week if only from the perspective that 5 of the tracks are all sitting around the web just waiting to be downloaded for free, the first example of which is the show’s opening track from 18 year old Danish talent Bwoy De Bhajan, one to watch for sure.

An interesting show this week if only from the perspective that 5 of the tracks are all sitting around the web just waiting to be downloaded for free, the first example of which is the show’s opening track from 18 year old Danish talent Bwoy De Bhajan, one to watch for sure. A taste of the new Donso album, the African sideproject of Krazybaldhead, followed and is just one example of the forward looking Afro fusion from the excellent Denfila album available now on Comet. The abstract, twisted Balearic, b-side vibes of Luminodisco ensued which, rather weirdly, seagued nicely into some hip hop beats from the Japan Project beat tape courtesy of Al Dobson Jr and Creole+ before The Jet Age of Tomorrow cam along and laid down the sweet soul with some help from Jesse Boykins III.

The fresh styles of Chance The Rapper then paved the way for the more abstract hip hop beats of Jonwayne and Jeremiah Jae before Sqaramouche came along with the deep atmospheric techno vibes. Things then went all Balearic as we dropped two tracks back to back from the outstanding Magik Sunrise compilation from Psychemagik, surely one of the compilations of the year. Bwoy De Bhajan then made another appearance, this time a longer display of his talents with the scizophrenic delights of “Global Aztec Civilization”.

Moods, another promising beat talent unearthed by the Fremdtunes crew, then laid down the hard to categorize beats with his “Stimulus” track before Atjazz displayed his remix talents with his take on Little Big Bee’s, “Searchin” which is just one of 3CDs worth of remixes celebrating the golden touch of Atjazz soon to be released on R2 records. Vondelpark then kept the mellow vibes rolling but this time with a little house mix from Robag Wruhme before Scarper revived the ghosts of 808 State to end the show with “Surfing The Cosmic Belt” a little taste from their forthcoming EP on Plexus.
