Sudanese-born / Brooklyn based singer, Alsarah, is preparing for her upcoming album release Silt on March 11th. Dubbed “The New Star of Nubian Pop” by The Guardian, Alsarah’s upcoming album w/ her band The Nubatones is described as “East African Retro Pop.” The songs focus on a nostalgic longing for a home that no longer exists, inspired by the Nubian “Songs of Return” which were connived after mass displacement in the lower Nubia.

Prior to the album release, on Februrary 25th, Alsarah & The Nubatones will release the “Soukura” EP which features remixes of album tracks by African House legend, Boddhi Satva, Turntables On The Hudson / Wonderwheel Recordings’ Nickodemus and others.
