Just a little bit more than a year after releasing his most successful project to date “The One“, Chubb Rock was back with a solid follow up titled “I Gotta Get Mine Yo! (Book Of Rhymes)”. The big change for this LP is on the beat side, since Chubb and his cousin Howie Tee did not work together like on the first three albums. Instead, the production duty ended up in the hands of an upcoming duo named The Trackmasters, for better or worse, while Chubb continued to bring the same commanding deep baritone flows on the mic. Overall, this is another good LP from the Brooklynite MC, even if some of the 21 tracks could have been left on the cutting room floor.
Sadly, this record did not do as well on the chart as his previous effort, peaking at #24 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
