Montreal hip-hop pioneer Toast Dawg (fka DJ Naes) released his latest EP Brazivilain II earlier this month. The DJ/producer has been active in the scene for almost twenty years now, which is evident in the maturity of his sound. Many of the tracks off the EP are sexy, rhythmic Brazilian rare groove instrumentals to make your body move. But its last track, fittingly titled “Finale (FIM)” and featuring Illa J on vocals, feels like a melodic odyssey into its maker’s subconscious.
