We have the honor of presenting the last remix of a really talented Montreal beatmaker, Dr. MaD. On this new release, he gives a lovely mellow bounce to the original smooth pop song by Secret Sun, and the result is captivating to say the least. Soothing for the mind, body and soul!
A friend of mine made me discovered MaD music last year, and it was about time! The first thing I’ve put my ears on are the People’s Tapes Vol.1 & Vol.2, issued in 2010 and 2011 respectively. I got automatically hooked on his sound, going from straight boom bap to some more left-field sample chop. Those projects where so well put together, it was clear that the man was in for something serious.
Coming out of the MTL Alaiz crew, the doctor has since had the chance to share the stage with top-notch artists like Mos Def, Raekwon, Oddisee & Rakim. He’s working hard lately with his partner in crime Walla P on their future funk project Voyage Funktastique, throwing parties every month and bringing the brand to the next level. They even put an excellent compilation together (Check this little article I wrote about it).
His music definitely progresses with time, as you can tell on the Janet Jackson “Got til it`s gone” remix he released 3 weeks ago, a more uptempo joint ready for the club.
