There were so many great artists, bands and albums released in the Hip Hop world in the early 90’s, some projects got lost in the mix and simply didn’t have the recognition they deserved. It’s exactly the case with this first and only LP from Flashback and Relay aka The Future Sound, where funky rhymes and dope sample flips are the norm. Tracks like the single “Lady/What’s a Bro to Do?” or the amazing “The Function”, based on the classic “Sly & The Family Stone” song “In Time“, are similar in style and quality to what Digable Planets delivered…almost a year later! Add the fact that the group was managed by a young Dame Dash, the future Roc-A-Fella Records head honcho, and you have the full portrayal of this forgotten piece of work. A must for any 90’s Hip Hop aficionado!
