After connecting with the Hit Squad, especially with EPMD for three impressive features on “Business As Usual” and “Business Never Personal” albums, Redman was ready to hit the world with his own solo project. Probably the most gifted emcee of the crew, his microphone prowess are well displayed across the LP, with hardcore but funny lyrics delivered with a powerful and precise flow. Erick Sermon, with the help of Redman himself, uses the same usual Parliament/Funkadelic or Zapp samples, but finds a way to make them sound as gritty as ever. Tracks like “Time 4 Sum Aksion” & “Tonight’s Da Night” are undeniable classics that stand the test of time and still pop right & left on best Hip Hop compilations.
Press play and enjoy one of the best Rap LPs of 1992! You can also catch the videos, two remixes (one of them appeared on his second album but originally came out on a 12″) and tons of interviews and live performances to completely grasp Red’s energy at the time. But the best way to jump back in this classic is the special mix put together by Mr Dan aka Kramos, with a selection of favorite songs from the project, all the remixes and some of the samples used to create the beats.
