#30thAnniversary – Original Flavor “This Is How It Is”

This debut album by Original Flavor is the only one released with the initial lineup since Suave Lover was replaced by T-Strong on the follow-up “Beyond Flavor”. Released on Atlantic Records, the LP didn’t generate much traction and rapidly sunk into oblivion, thanks to the poor promotion. While the rhymes are OK at best, it’s really the beats that deserve attention, almost entirely handled by Ski Beatz. With the group being managed by a young Damon Dash, the producer ended up later on with a couple of placements on Jay-Z classic debut album “Reasonable Doubt“. So “This Is How It Is” is the beginning of a bright career as a producer for Ski, with work for Camp Lo, Fat Joe, Lil’ Kim, Mos Def and many other legends on his resume.
