1994, one of the greatest years in Hip Hop history (in our opinion) started on a good foot with “A Constipated Monkey”, an underground classic by Kurious. After building some momentum with guest appearances on LP’s from Del The Funky Homosapien, Pete Nice & KMD, and the well received singles “Walk Like A Duck” and “Uptown Shit”, Kurious Jorge (with a J not a G) dropped a memorable album with an all-star lineup of producers. The Beatnuts are the main players, but you also have contributions from Stimulated Dummies aka SD50, Pete Nice & DJ Richie Rich of 3rd Bass and Bosco Money of Downtown Science. The record is an enjoyable ride with plenty of head nodding numbers, but the masterpiece is the third single, simply called “I’m Kurious”. The beat is a haunting flip of “Mysterious Vibes” by The Blackbyrds that provides the backdrop for Kurious to deliver three dope verses full of honesty and humility. A forgotten classic that will never grow old.
