After a good debut album titled “2Pacalypse Now“, 2Pac was back with a similar approach on “Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z…”, but as a bigger persona and with a larger following than in 1991. On his way to becoming one of the greatest leaders of his generation, his political views, well displayed in his music and interviews, started to ruffle some feathers. It definitely doesn’t stop here, what you get on this LP is the complete Pac package, in all its glory and filled with contradictions, where you can find two incredible back to back singles like “I Get Around” and “Keep Ya Head Up”, bringing foward subject matters that go in totally different directions. But after all, it’s exactly why his albums were so captivating anyway. On the beat side, there’s a couple of forgettable moments, but most of the project is solid and coherent sonic wise, even if most of the producers are unfamiliar, with the exception of two legends, Jam Master Jay and Special Ed. You’ll also find features from well established artists from both coasts like Treach of Naughty by Nature, Apache, Ice Cube, Ice-T and his old friends of Digital Underground.
Listen to the album below, discover tons of remixes & b-sides from the 12″ singles, catch a couple of live performances, but also watch many interviews where you can feel the energy of Tupac Shakur in this era.
