For a bit of history, Femi’s father, Fela Kuti created in Shrine in 1970, and just seven years later, it was burnt down by the African government. In October 2000, on the third anniversary of Fela’s death, Femi opened The New Afrika Shrine in celebration and in honor of his father’s memory. Femi has locked himself in the studio to record a new original album that he will share with his elder son Made. A first EP and video will see the light of day in the Spring of 2020 and the full the album will be released in falls on Partisan Records. It looks like Mister Femi Anikulapo Kuti is not ready to rest…
For over two decades, Rich Medina has cemented is reputation as an elite DJ with a global following. He is also an Ivy League lecturer, platinum-selling record producer, renowned spoken word artist, recording artist, clothing and accessories designer, voiceover artist and is a widely published journalist.
The venue is known for artists using their voices to fight back against government corruption and challenge important issues. This show will be very special, especially given the current climate of the world, and this will be a show that is exclusively for the Summerstage Anywhere Digital Series.
