Colm K – Spaced

colmk

Ireland based DJ and producer Colm K is a 2004 graduate of the Red Bull Music Academy, and has been making waves for a few years now with releases including his Bastard Jazz debut 12″ ‘Basics’, heralded 7” and 10” records on sublabel BSTRD Boots (the latter of which is sold-out and regularly changes hands for upwards of $50 on eBay), and his recent shared-billing with Mr. Scruff on a Hypnotic Brass Ensemble remix 12” (on Choice Cuts).

Spaced is taken from The Love EP by Colm K – due out on 12″ and digital June 3rd on Bastard Jazz Recordings. On the EP, Colm’s musical vision has truly matured with a fully realized 12” that draws on such disparate influences as Herbie Hancock, 80’s boogie, J-Dilla, vintage House music, Floating Points and Q-Tip productions. Art for the EP comes from graphic artist Donal Thorton, notable for Onra’s ‘Long Distance’ cover, and many of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble covers.
