A quite unrepentently electonic affair this week apart from the lovely folk opening courtesy of Grey Reverend, a little taste of his new material due later in the year. Ken Camden then sent us on a sprawling electronic space odyssey and gave the world a taster of his forthcoming release on Kranky, which we will be checking for sure. We were interested to receive the new Comfort Fit material this week having known him from his more soulful endeavours on Tokyo Dawn but his new stuff on First Word is a bit darker and deeper but none the worse for it. Jaw Jam then dropped some big beats and bass, big up XLR8 for the freeload before we had to drop a tune from our album of the week from The Child Of Lov which has been on heavy headphone rotation.

Raffertie then provided another reason to buy his new album on Ninja with the slo mo soulful delights of “Rain” before Machinedrum ditched the juke and laid down the hip hop which led nicely into the live drum and electonic fusion of Makaya from his new Bandcamp release. We then had to celebrate the imminent release of the TG Mauss album on Karaoke Kalk by dropping the rather wonderful “Lover” and we well recommend that you run out and buy the album, along with most other Karaoke Kalk albums.

Various house mutations then occupied the show’s second half kicking off with one of two tracks in this weeks show from hot new Belgium talent Hiele who has just dropped his amazing debut album on Ekster, a lovely diverse EP of juke, house and dowtempo electro delights. The Jazz n Milk mafia, GTA Hoffmann, then provided some looser, funkier vibes before Tendts twisted things back up with some of his forthcoming material on Project Mooncircle. Moire then got all dark and deep before Fantastic Mr. Fox injected the twisted soulful house with his amazing future house perversion of the Colonel Abrahams classic “Trapped”. As our EP of the week it was then only fitting that Hiele closed the show with one of his inventive footwork mutations.
