Boston might not be the “mecca” of hip hop, but Ed O.G is without a doubt one of the pioneers of the scene. His first album released with “Da Bulldogs” (honestly, it’s pretty much a solo album) is nothing short of a classic, with legendary cuts like “I got to have it” or “Be a father to your child”. The record was more a critical than a commercial success, and after another album (Roxbury 02119) the group got dropped by their label, Mercury. But it was only the beginning of a long career for the gifted emcee, who ended up having a beautiful independent solo run in the 2000’s, releasing 6 albums and multiple collaborations with other legends like Pete Rock and Masta Ace.
