Weekly Digest 14

If you like Earl Sweatshirt’s sleepy flow, you’ll dig what Chester Watson put together at the tender age of 15. Old school, story telling, stoner vibe with production from MF DOOM, Sammsonite and Stricknine, Chester himself, Onra, Chuck Inglish, Caleb Crowe, UggzTv, and Bugseed. In terms of lyrcis, he’s not playing in the big boy league yet, but man – with 15 this is a hell of a debut!

We have had Red Bull Music Academy graduate 00Genesis on our site in 2011, and we continued to support him throughout the last year. Now here’s another release from the young Maryland-based beatmaker, titled Monday Blues EP. A nod to the authentic golden-age hip-hop, Monday Blues EP infuses jazzy samples, raw chops, bass-heavy beats and turntablism. A must cop for hip-hop purists, and for younger hip-hop enthusiasts.

Names You Can Trust presents the debut single from Aillacara 2743 – a Chilean-French, Multi-Instrumentalist and turntablist, who cooks up two original Cumbias that build on the tradition of Andean, Amazonian, and Tropical rhythms with bass-heavy futurisitc beats and dusty, distorted organs.

The re-release of SertOne’s second EP ‘Shapes In The Sky’ on vinyl features remixes from DannyDriveThru, Lemonada and SIGNAL (plus SertOne’s four original tracks). Here’s what our friend Laurent Fintoni from Original Cultures / Rhythm Incursions had to say about SertOne:
”Heralded as one of Ireland’s most promising talents in 2011, SertOne returns in 2012 with the Shapes In The Sky EP on Melted Music. Having received praise for his previous work from the likes of MTV Iggy, Hotpress Magazine and Nialler9, the young producer further displays a musical maturity beyond his years with four tracks of bubbling hip hop and electronic music. This is hip hop for the new generation, beholden to the golden years yet firmly rooted in modern aesthetics and looking intently towards the future.”
