The story of 3rd Bass was short lived, only two official albums (The Cactus Album & Derelicts Of Dialect) released over three years, before MC Serch and Pete Nice decided to go their separate ways. The former was the first one out with a nice album titled “Return Of The Product”, released on the same label the band was previously signed to, Def Jam. Both singles are classics, on the album opener “Here It Comes” the production from Wolf and Epic is nothing short of amazing, while Serch ride the track with style. But the real gem of this project is “Back To The Grill Again” produced by T-Ray of The Double X Posse, with features from an all star cast of emcees that includes Chubb Rock, Nasty Nas and Red Hot Lover Tone of The Trackmasters. This one needs to be included in the list of the best posse cut of the early 90’s.
The rest of this short LP, only 45 minutes and eleven tracks, is hit or miss but still an enjoyable ride.
