After releasing albums with Master of Ceremony and Brand Nubian, Grand Puba was taking the solo route to drop some flavors for 1992. A lot of people anticipated the move since Puba had a couple of excellent solo joints on “All For One” released two years earlier. Even if the subject matter can get more serious and political at times (check Soul Controller), most of the LP is on funky party starter vibes, both with the lyrics as well as with the beats. The biggest chunk of the production is handled by Puba himself, using simple but effective loops. But the reason why most people see this album as a classic is the effortless delivery and impressive wordplay of Maxwell Dixon on the mic, certainly one of the greatest emcee/entertainers of all times!
