A hazy, laid back selection this week kicking off with long time show favourite, Jono McCleery and his new single “Ballade” closely followed by Demian from the great new Wondercore Island mixtape showcasing a whole host of varied talent from down under. Icelandic experimental popsters, Mum, then made an appearance with “Slow Down” our favourite track from their new album before we had to drop some more Jessy Lanza as her great new album on Hyperdub has been our late night listen of choice recently. Thankfully the ridiculously expensive Damon album is about to be reissued, saving everybody who wants a copy several thousand pounds and “Song Of A Gypsy” is a little taste of it’s pysched out delights – good work once again by Egon.

Dope Gems then provided a wicked cover, as is their remit, of Ethel Beattie’s, “It’s Your Love” before things went all Hip Hip kicking off with a little preview of the new, left leaning, Jonwayne album which paved the way for a cool Shafiq Husayn rerub of an old Lloyd Scott swing classic. Hot new UK talent then followed with the first single, “Like” from Baishe Kings, let’s hope the rest of their material lives up to the early promise. Knxwledge then kept the leftfield vibe rolling with a taste of his new material on All City before Larry Heard kept the hip hop beats but went soaring into the outer realms of machine soul with “Three Spheres”.

The Range then upped the tempo with a taste of his new EP on Donkey Pitch which led nicely into Neko Neko, a track we purloined from the Groovement blog’s recent compilation. Opdot, with a little help from a Circle Trap’s remix, then melded deep techno with some classical touches before the unique sounds of Hello Skinny finished the show off in fine oddball style.
