After reaching a level of success never seen before in Canadian Hip Hop history with his single “Let The Backbone Slide” taken from his 1989 LP “Symphony In Effect”, Maestro Fresh-Wes was back with a new record in 1991. With socially conscious lyrics and a big chunk of the album produced by a dope beatmaker named K-Cut from Main Source, this project can easily compete with some of the best work from the early 90’s on multiple levels. Despite being critically acclaimed, the project didn’t sell as much as the first one, “Conductin Thangs” being the only minor hit. But it’s a great way to discover the music of the “Godfather of Canadian Hip Hop”, paving the way for artists like Kardinal Offishall or Choclair to be successful later on.
