#30thAnniversary – Geto Boys “We Can’t Be Stopped”

There’s a lot of reasons why this album is the most successful and well known record from the Geto Boys. The two main one are the mega classic track “Mind playing tricks on me”, one of the best hip hop songs of all-time, and the crazy cover with Bushwick Bill showing his terrible injury from a self-inflicted (or almost) gun shot in the eye, while other members Scarface and Willie D are holding the stretcher. Released in July 1991 on the biggest label from the south, Rap-A-Lot Records, the LP was certified platinum a couple of months later. After multiple changes in the lineup, and with DJ Ready Red leaving the group during the recording process, it ends up being the first album that includes only the main three members people have in mind when they talk about the Geto Boys (formerly spelled Ghetto Boys).
