After the success of 2006′s FutureSex/LoveSounds Justin Timberlake dedicated his life to acting and was much missed in the music world. But last week JT declared “I’m Ready”! No other details were released, but we suspect his old compadres Timbaland and Nelly Furtado will play a part somehow. Rumor has it that Jay-Z will involved too. Sounds exciting! Stay locked into Justin’s Official website. Another video from Trent Reznor's How To Destroy Angels project - the video is for An Omen EP track "The loop closes" and features a lot of cryptic VHS-tape footage. Our boy Charlie B Wilder, aka Captain Planet from Mixtape Riot, let loose two new tunes recently. First up is an old folk song from Zimbabwe updated for modern ears and asses - Captain Planet style. "Chingata" features the lead guitarist for the legendary Thomas Mapfumo & The Blacks Unlimited. Then there is "Quetzalcoatl Offering" - Captain Planet released this tropical tribal dance floor heater in honor of the ending of a 5,125 year Mayan calendar cycle, and the dawning of a new era of higher consciousness... http://youtu.be/1eHWgmoCyBg Up & comer Joey Bada$$ from Brooklyn will be releasing his new single ‘Unorthodox’ produced by DJ Premier on January 14th. In this clip, we get a look at Joey and Primo in the studio working on that the track and giving us a preview of how it will sound. Joey released his debut mixtape 1999 in June 2012 to critical acclaim, followed by Rejex in September. Another bad ass tune from Brooklyn, more specifically it comes from Matt Shadetek's album "The Empire Never Ended" featuring Riff Raff, Troy Ave, Chan Dizzy and Jahdan Blakkamoore. The full album is out March 26th 2013 on Dutty Artz, for now peep this: Kept Records is back with a new 7inch record, from Turkish producer/musician - Alpman. Alpman is an 18 year old Turkish musician and producer, who picked up and the guitar at 6, it’s now 12 years later he’s blending fuzzed-out bağlama inspired guitar riffs, a driving beat and the Hammond B3 to create distinctive and atmospheric instrumental cuts. Influenced by funk, psychedelic rock, afrobeat and soul jazz, Alpman creates a sound that feels familiar but that is somehow completely fresh. The a-side, “tintm,” is a break-filled track, and although this is not Turkish music, the fuzzed-out bağlama inspired guitar riff cannot be unheard as it carries things to an absolute hypnotizing groove. On the flip, the groove comes just as quick and you’ll hear some flavours of trip-hop, spy and lounge music, all of which will get you moving and tripping like a “Hypnotic Redhead.” MeLo-X is back with the third installment of his “Inside The Mind Of MeLo” to remix some hits, classics and rarities so to speak.
