Chicago rapper and producer Tree has an elastic voice that sounds like its been raked over broken glass (in a good way, if you can believe it). Roc Marciano is less erratic, more calm, delivering weird imagery in a dead-eyed rasp. Them working together seems like a no-brainer, so now we have “Trynawin,” from Tree’s upcoming Sunday School II: When Church Lets Out, which is syrup-thick and a perfectly smooth contrast to all the vocal jaggedness. Tree’s mixtape will be out this Spring from Creative Control and Closed Sessions.
