#30thAnniversary – Onyx “Bacdafucup”

When Sticky Fingaz got together with Fredro Starr, Suavé aka Sonny Seeza and Big DS (RIP), to complete the band known as Onyx, they basically created a new lane in Hip Hop music. Hardcore to the bone, every emcee of the crew shouted their lyrics with a raspy voice, while almost fighting each other during the live performances, creating a special energy in the crowd reminiscent of what we see in Punk or Metal concerts. The sinister boom bap sound of producer Chyskillz adds another layer of darkness to the project, creating the perfect amalgam with the flows and lyrics. You can find numerous unforgettable songs on “Bacdafucup”, but the classic that propelled the band to another level is the acclaimed “Slam”. Jam Master Jay, who released the album on his own imprint, decided they needed another single before wrapping up the LP, so he sent the whole crew back to the studio. They came out seven days later with one of the biggest tracks in Hip Hop history, nothing less!
