This debut album from Dres & Mista Lawnge aka Black Sheep completes the trio of classic albums from the Native Tongues movement of 1991, after De La Soul “De La Soul Is Dead” and ATCQ “The Low End Theory“. Kind of the forgotten one, this LP is not far behind in terms of quality, if not right there with the two records we mentioned before. Every single is a masterpiece, especially “Flavor of the Month” and “The Choice Is Yours (Revisited)”, two songs that deserve their place in the long list of best Hip Hop tracks of all time. But there’s no need to skip anything on this piece of work, even the lesser known cut like “Have U.N.E. Pull” or “To Whom It May Concern” are straight bangers, with Dres smooth flow always on point. The remixes on the 12″ are sometimes better than the original, the proof is the use of the excellent “Similak Child (Homogenized Mix)” for the video of the 4th single.
